Gus Osberg

Lead: Economic Development Expert
Gus Osberg has over 30 years of international business and economic development experience and he brings to projects knowledge gained from working within the corporate world and experiences acquired from entrepreneurial initiatives. His professional management and international business development initiatives include strategic planning, partnership formation and the development of new business models.

Gus Osberg has managed sales, technical services and software engineering organizations.His project activities include designing and implementing marketing and export plans,developing opportunities from concept to implementation, and the formation of new value chains and knowledge clusters. His understanding of the important economic links between the public and private sectors has led to the formation of public private partnerships, and, local content and offset fulfillment initiatives. He brings to projects a broad understanding across many disciplines including the energy and environment sectors, information and communication technologies, professional services, education, training and capacity building.

Gus Osberg led in the development of a major local content agreement worth over US$75 million and a seed capital venture fund as part of a major offset agreement. On the Public Private Partnership front Mr. Osberg established three Public Private Partnership education initiatives and a major planning effort for a fourth initiative totaling over US$230 million. Mr. Osberg has participated on several economic development advisory boards. He is a member of the Texas Association of Environmental Professionals and he has served on the Houston Technology Center’s Economic Development Committee and the Telecom Application Alliance (TARA) Board of Directors, and the Canadian Consular Corp where he represented the Republic of Trinidad &Tobago.


Stew Hattie
Lead: Project Management & Export Trade Expert
Stew Hattie is a senior international project manager with expertise in the development and implementation of multi-disciplinary programs. With some 35 years of experience in 33 countries, Stew Hattie has project management experience in Asia, Africa, Europe, the Caribbean and the Americas. Clients include International Financial Institutions, private sector, national and state governments, crown corporations and UN Agencies. He assists private, public and crown corporations in the marketing of services and products in the export marketplace. Stew Hattie, on behalf of economic development agencies, leads trade and investment missions, providing export planning, training and mentoring services including export prospector and match-making services.

Stew Hattie has been an active member and served on the executive of several organizations including the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters, the Halifax Chamber of Commerce, and the Environmental Services Association of Nova Scotia. Mr. Hattie has led in the delivery of 15 trade missions over the past 3 years assisting over 100 companies in their export initiatives.

Stew Hattie served as a Member of the Sector Advisory Group to the Minister of International Trade. He has acted over the years as advisor to several Nova Scotia Governmental Ministers on matters dealing with the export of goods and services.

Winston Gilpin, CPA
Lead: Business Structure & Capitalization Expert
Winston Gilpin has over twenty-five years of experience in finance and accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Texas. He has served in a number of executive management positions for publicly traded and privately owned companies, and as an outside advisor to several more.

Winston Gilpin serves as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of DFJ Mercury, a Texas based, seed and early stage venture capital fund. He also serves as the CFO to the following companies: Performix, a SAP software developer and Momentum Biofuels, a biofuels producer/distributor.
Recently, Winston Gilpin filled the role of CFO of Internet REIT, Inc. Internet REIT is striving to build the world's largest, most profitable and highest-quality portfolio of Internet domain names. He was also a director and the Chief Financial Officer of Intermat, Inc. where he facilitated several key equity transactions for the company, most notably the sale of the company for 20x revenue. Intermat was a data management company specializing in content and data management for Fortune 1000 clients located in 50 countries around the world.

Winston Gilpin works with early stage, small and medium businesses helping them understand their business, develop solid business models, recognize their value propositions and align their activities to measure market performance. Winston Gilpin advises companies on merger and acquisitions and capital fund raising initiatives.
